Subject Error: <servlet-mapping> in web.xml
Date Mon, 12 Feb 2001 16:44:59 GMT
Hope this is the right location for reporting errors...

I've just started working with Tomcat 3.2.1.
I wrote to web.xml:

<servlet-mapping>
  <servlet-name>servlet_1</servlet-name>
  <url-pattern>pattern_1</url-pattern>
  <servlet-name>servlet_2</servlet-name>
  <url-pattern>pattern_2</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>

instead of:

<servlet-mapping>
  <servlet-name>servlet_1</servlet-name>
  <url-pattern>pattern_1</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>

<servlet-mapping>
  <servlet-name>servlet_2</servlet-name>
  <url-pattern>pattern_2</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>

Tomcat did not find servlet_1 then.
It took me a long time to find out why...
I think it should report an error.

The DTD says:
<!ELEMENT servlet-mapping (servlet-name, url-pattern)>

but obviously it's not checked.
(DTD's are made for this! ;-) )

Thanks to all developers for working on Tomcat!
(Making Web-Apps with Java is great!)
