To complete the set of answers (see the README file at the top of the
appropriate TOMCAT module for more details on requiried packages):

To get Tomcat 3.2

    cvs -d ... checkout -r ANT_11 jakarta-ant
    cvs -d ... checkout jakarta-servletapi
    cvs -d ... checkout -r tomcat_32 jakarta-tomcat

To get Tomcat 3.3

    cvs -d ... checkout jakarta-ant <-- I think it's ok with latest
    cvs -d ... checkout jakarta-servletapi
    cvs -d ... checkout jakarta-tomcat

To get Tomcat 4.0

    cvs -d ... checkout jakarta-ant
    cvs -d ... checkout -r SERVLET_23_JSP_12 jakarta-servletapi
    cvs -d ... checkout jakarta-tomcat-4.0

I use "latest and greatest" Ant CVS to build Tomcat 4.0 with no problems.
