-1 -- it's much clearer to say "usable config files are in
tomcat/conf" than "they're in the subdirectory of tomcat/conf
corresponding to your server".  This is both to make clearer HOWTOs
and to keep it conceptually easier.

That's fine, and actually fits in with my reasoning above.
