Subject instance pooling
Date Tue, 18 Jul 2000 15:34:58 GMT
i would like to see tomcat support instance pooling.
i have been reading the code and it appears only the
ServletWrapper.java file and the WebXmlReader.java
file would need to be modified to add this feature.
I'm not sure about how to go about contributing this
code (im a newbie to this open source stuff). is
there already work on this being done? is this
already being done in catalina? should i put forth
some code on this list and ask for comments? from
looking at the code it appears all one would need to
do is change the ServletWrapper.java file to hold an
array of Servlet classes instead of the single member
variable. as well as substitute every occurence of
action on that member variable for a for loop that
works on all the servlets. then add a synchronized
lock on the servlet in the service method. in the
WebXmlReader.java file just add one more xmlaction to
allow for setting the number of instances you want in
your pool.
