You're right but... Resulset may consume lot of memory resources, mainly
depending on the way JDBC driver provider's implementation , so a good
programming habbit consist in closing them as soon as you don't need them
anymore , this has impacts on memory consumptions.

FYI!

You don't need to close RS's although, I'm sure it doesn't really hurt
anything.
