Two questions:

1. Are you using the auto generated mod_jk.conf? If so, you should stop
and 
   start to manually edit mod_jk.conf. If you switched from the auto
generated
   file, make sure that your httpd.conf reference it.
2. Can it be that some other configuration is already available for 
   *.xml files?
