Apache Tcl Project Announces Rivet 0.2.0

For immediate release: October 2003. The Apache Software Foundation's
Tcl group are proud to announce the release of version 0.2.0, which
has numerous bug fixes and improvements.

Rivet is a thin, but very efficient layer that unites Apache - the
world's most popular web server, with Tcl - a simple, powerful and
efficient programming language.

Rivet is the "next generation" of mod_dtcl and NeoWebScript, which
have joined forces in order to better focus our efforts. It provides
the programmer with both fast and light template-style (think PHP)
dynamic web pages, but is also equipped to evaluate raw Tcl files.
This combination makes for an efficient division of back end
programming and template scripting if used correctly.

Rivet is currently only available for Apache 1.3 on various Unix
platforms. Pat Thoyts made a significant contribution to 0.2.0 in the
form of code that enables it to build on windows, but there are
apparently still problems - volunteers are welcome! Work on support
for 2.0 will commence shortly.

About the Apache Software Foundation

The Apache Software Foundation provides organizational, legal, and
financial support for world-class, Open Source, Java, Perl, XML, Tcl,
and PHP projects, in addition to the world's most popular web
server. The membership driven, non-profit, Foundation exists to ensure
that the Apache projects continue to exist beyond the contributions of
individuals, to enable contributions of intellectual property and
financial support, and to provide a vehicle for limiting legal
exposure while participating in Open Source projects.

About the Apache Tcl group

The Apache Tcl group has worked actively under the Apache Software
Foundation umbrella since 1999, and currently includes the mod_tcl,
Apache Rivet, and Websh projects (as well as maintaining mod_dtcl and
NeoWebScript). While current projects concentrate on Apache/Tcl
integration, the Apache Tcl group is always looking for new and
interesting Tcl related projects:
