I am in favor of this patch but it will also require a change in 
org.apache.shale.clay.component.chain.AssignPropertiesCommand. 

There is one attributes that will not exist in the components.  It was 
invented for constructing HTML tapestry like views.  

We will need to submit a formal patch but it will look something like this:

while (ai.hasNext()) {
  AttributeBean a = (AttributeBean) ai.next();
  if (!a.getName().equals(Globals.COMPONENT_ATTRIBUTE_ALLOW_BODY) { 
      clayContext.setAttribute(a);
            
      try {
         command.execute(clayContext);
      } catch (Exception e) {
         log.error(messages.getMessage("assign.property.error",
                        new Object[] { a }), e);
                        throw e;
                        
      }
            
}
