OK Martin, thanks for the follow-up. I realised not long after I posted that
there might be some confusion since, as you point out, the problem I was
commenting on is different (although related) to Anton's one. I've filed a
separate report for it (see bug 28983). Apologies also if my wording was a
little harsh; I'd just spent a good hour or so tracking down the problem &
should have waited a bit before posting!!  :-)

As for this wrapper/parameter problem, it would still be possible to implement a
fix that worked on 2.3 at least. If a servlet 2.3 container was detected the
wrapped request could be passed through as-is. Otherwise the unwrapped request
would have to be passed in - but I'd suggest that in this situation at least a
warning should be logged to make life easier for someone debugging the problem
since I know from experience that it can be a tough one to track down.
