Well, I'm sorry for the late reply (it happens from time to time
to spend weeks in assignment...); 
the basic point is that the Log classes in Struts 1.1 use a
"static constructor" and they are going to fall in a
"java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError"

only when run INSIDE the debug environment of JDeveloper 9i;
basically I don't know who to blame: the Struts libs sound correct,
and on the other side Jdev runs smoothly even after the error is raised.

I'm rather confused: have you some suggestions to throw light on
the matter?
