Also User can used available public clouds like EC2, Rackspace ...etc to try it out without setting up IaaS.

Assuming the user have a running OpenStack installation too much to ask?

Nope, not in these days IMO! :) Apache Stratos is a PaaS runs on top of one or more IaaSes.

Hi Chintana,

In Stratos 1.5.2 or 1.6 we haven't used IaaS capability to scaling. We just have JVM based separation and its can be download and run withing single machine or VM. But Stratos 2.0 is running top of IaaS and its uses IaaS level scaling. So it cant run in single machine without having a IaaS.

Something like the local setup that Stratos 1.5.2 came with where people can download and try out would be nice IMO. In this case since it includes PaaS foundation layer that in itself might not be terribly interesting to end users unless they have couple of Cartridges. So by default have the PaaS foundation layer + the PHP cartridge may be? Down the line the cartridges could be spun off to a new project sort of like a cartridge repo perhaps.

WSO2 released set of product packs. However, with Apache, we will have to re-visit what the packaged model is.

Hi,

What I really meant as a binary release is about the packs we released for WSO2 Stratos 2.0 GA [1].

We don't have such release with Apache Stratos yet. That's why I said whether we can have a "Download" button yet.

We can have a link to our source repository for now.

You should have a download page that points people to the repository and
to any source releases from the project. Note that source releases are
considered the "official" releases and binaries are for convenience.
(See: http://www.apache.org/dev/release.html#what)

So the "binary" is going to be an interesting case for this project. Since this is going to be a cloud software project, what would the binary contain?
