Here's a new run..

Virgin childs:

$ pgrep -f 'spamd child' | while read p; do grep Private_ /proc/$p/smaps; done | awk 'BEGIN
{p=0;} $1 ~ /Private_/ {p += $2;} END {print p;}'
79364
$ pgrep -f 'spamd child' | while read p; do grep Shared_ /proc/$p/smaps; done | awk 'BEGIN
{p=0;} $1 ~ /Shared_/ {p += $2;} END {print p;}'

Used childs:

$ pgrep -f 'spamd child' | while read p; do grep Private_ /proc/$p/smaps; done | awk 'BEGIN
{p=0;} $1 ~ /Private_/ {p += $2;} END {print p;}'

$ pgrep -f 'spamd child' | while read p; do grep Shared_ /proc/$p/smaps; done | awk 'BEGIN
{p=0;} $1 ~ /Shared_/ {p += $2;} END {print p;}'
