It should work. Try:

java ...

where contains:

handlers= java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler
.level= INFO
java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.level = FINER
java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.formatter = 
java.util.logging.SimpleFormatter = FINER = FINER
