I start each VirtualBox with 8 GB of disk space, but also tell it it can 
increase as necessary. I have 1.54 TB of free space on my physical disk, 
so it is unlikely to run out soon.

The JDK I used for the failure I posted is the one you get if you go 
through the Ubuntu application installation process rather than 
downloading from the Oracle site. If we don't intend to work with it, we 
should make that very clear. However, my preference is to avoid doing 
anything that might be affected by which JDK is being used.
