After installing *all* packages under the `.NET Development` section in the VS 2017 installer, the project builds succesfully. My hunch is the following: Windows 10 Creators Update (Version 1703) ships with .NET 4.7[0]. Hence, you need that SDK installed to target native code compilation for .NET / CLI with the corresponding Windows 10 SDK. Does anyone know more about this to (in)validate this hunch?
