Subject [jira] [Commented] (REEF-1750) Enable YARN Node Labels
Date Sat, 25 Mar 2017 23:16:41 GMT

Yogesh Darji commented on REEF-1750:

Hi Yunseong Lee,

I am a Computer Science Graduate Student in Data Science Track at The University of Texas
at Dallas. I have done almost 1 year of internship Verizon Labs for which I worked on Verizon
Cloud Application where was exposed with various open source projects for data processing.
I have experience with all the Big Data, Cloud related technologies including Hadoop, MapReduce,
YARN, Spark, REEF, Solr, ElasticSearch, Mesos, Docker, etc. I understood the idea to add a
new feature to allows users to specify the Node Label (which should be configured in YARN)
when they request Evaluators on REEF.

I would love to contribute this feature and take it to GSOC 2017.

> YARN's Node Labels (
allow users to group resources with similar characteristics or with similar ACL policies (e.g.,
'gpu' for the nodes that have GPUs, TEAMNAME for the nodes that are owned by a team).
> Users can specify which type of resources they want to request by setting the label.
> It will be useful if REEF Runtime YARN supports this feature.
