I dont mind there being an additional 'high visibility' download link, but
something about the way it is now also doesn't sit that well with me.

Download Now, perhaps? Maybe a slightly different colour from the rest of
the content to make it stick out more?

Yeah, I also found it rather difficult to locate the prior version
documentation (and indeed the prior releases arent that easy to find) if
you dont already know where they were.
