I've created the keytab file as specified in the Qpid user manual [1]
and I have set the environment variable as well.
However, I haven't figured out a way to understand where the broker is
actually looking for this file.

Ok, that is good. The next thing to check is that the qpidd process can
access the keytab in which its service principal can be found.
