         <p>This is a work in progress, and tries to summarise some of the requirements
that have discussed as part of <a href="https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PROTON-194"
class="external-link" rel="nofollow">PROTON-194</a> and the related <a href="http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/qpid-proton/201301.mbox/browser"
class="external-link" rel="nofollow">Proton mailing list discusion</a>.</p>

<h4><a name="Protonbuildsystemrequirements-Requirements"></a>Requirements</h4>

<p>The following requirements are listed in no particular order. I hope that writing
list down will allow us to reach a consensus on the relative priority of the requirements.</p>

<p>Unless otherwise specified, "proton-c" means the entire contents of the proton-c
directory including the JNI bindings.</p>
