Subject RE: Regarding Jetspeed migration
Date Wed, 17 Jun 2015 06:48:24 GMT
Hi Team,

I am using windows 7 and java 8. I tried to build jetexpress tutorial example portal with
maven 3.3.3 it got failed. Then tried to build with maven 3.2.1 it also got failed.
Hence downgraded to maven 2.2.1, it got build successfully.
After this when we ran the project using tomcat server it is showing error as " java.lang.ClassCastException:
java.lang.String cannot be cast to java.lang.Class " .
When downgraded to java 7 and ran again it looks fine. Here we have a doubt like cannot we
use java 8 to work with Jetspeed 2 ? Should we use only java 7 or lower version above java
1.5 ? Please explain these doubts.

Regards,
Lalitha

Hi Team,

Issue 1: While building with maven 3.3.* on window 7, what I found is maven build process
requires mvn.bat file for execution but somehow it has mvn.cmd file. So build was failing
at first step only.

So I had to copy and create mvn.bat file for execution.

Issue 2 : After that I came across below compatibility issue so I had to downgrade and try
with 2.2.1. I guess Maven 3.2.5 can be also ok but not tested.

Sounds like I need to do some testing of the Jetspeed archetype here. Im only testing on Linux
and Mac OS X + Maven 3.2.1. I will setup a Windows VM and test on the following configurations:

* Jetspeed 2.2.2

* Jetspeed 2.3.0

* Maven 3.3.3

* Windows ( I only have license for Windows 8)

i don’t want to continue support of Maven 2.2.1 when working with Jetspeed 2.2.x and 2.3.x,
so Im hoping we can get this working for you on Maven 3

I’ll start testing here and get back to you with results in next 24 hours
