The comment by Raphael, together with sporadic lock during startup, just after a
memory cache miss (that I seem to be the only one seeing), lead me to believe
that his hypothesis may play a role here.

I'll try to audit thread-safety and startup of the memory cache. Please keep on
working on the name-id issue, and report weirnesses so that I can look at this...

The fact that I'm the only one seeing the system locking does not impress me
particularly. I seem to attract bugs as some of you already know. I should
always be far from deployment scenarios... ;)
