My understanding of the current problem is that the _display attribute stored 
in the persistence service is keyed on PortletName - thus both instances of the 
portlet shared the same Persistence information.  So, when you mark one as 
closed, it closes the other.

I do not intend to fix this problem (that persistence information is keyed on a 
possibly non-unique portlet name).
