I think - that is think - that the only solution is to write code to
calculate the widths of all of the columns on the worksheet and then compare
this to the wodth of the page. If the former is greater that the width of a
page in portrait orientation, then you will need to shift to landscape. I
have not used POI for quite some time now and am not up to date on any
changes, but I do not think there is an inbuilt method that will tell you
the required page width.
