Sanjiv suggested embedding VB into your excel template (as that's 
probably the most successful approach), so that when you open your 
generated spreadsheet, VBscript will take care of that for you.

There's no setting in the Excel file format (AFAIK) that tells Excel to 
open in maximized mode.
