Subject data format returned as "General"
Date Tue, 08 Feb 2005 13:38:16 GMT

If i have a cell in the XLS , which has some user-defined format, and
is not in the DataFormat table (which maps numbers to string formats),
then it always gets the format as "General". For example if i have
50,000 displayed in Excel, i will get 50000, and the format set to
"General". Is there any way i can add my own formats to be interpreted
, or basically, get exactly the format string that excel uses (Not
the list of string formats associated with numbers in the class
HSSFDataFormat. The problem is that i don't need user defined formats,
because i have to know what format excel uses in the first place,
otherwise i don't know if the returned "General" will be a number, or
a string. -> i am talking about many table columns with different
formattings and types, which i *don't* know in advance.
