Hi Danny.

I also had this problem now and remembered the solution. In my case
there is a "\n" so nothing is replaced and the squares are printed. Do
you have a further idea.

Can you examine the characters in the string?  i have a suspicion there 
is an \r in there (or some additional character) somewhere.  I pass in 
\n and things wrap nicely.
