Hi,
you can check the type of the cell and based on the type of cell you call
respective methods.
getDateCellValue(),getStringCellValue() and so on...
Check Util package.. u might come accross with some to check whether the
cell contains date or not...

How do i read a Date from an excel file??

Do i need to use DataFormat for that?? 
But how does my program know it's reading a Date from a particular cell??
