Subject Maximum number of spreadsheets (or size) created by HSSFWorkbook
Date Wed, 16 Apr 2003 15:02:33 GMT
Hi, there,

The source codes of HSSFWorkbook class have following snippet:

public class HSSFWorkbook
        extends java.lang.Object
{

     .......

     /**
     * used for compile-time performance/memory optimization.  This
determines the
     * initial capacity for the sheet collection. Its currently set to 3.
     * Changing it in this release will decrease performance
     * since you're never allowed to have more or less than three sheets!
     */

    public final static int INITIAL_CAPACITY = 3;

    ......

}

It looks like user should not create more than three sheets. Is this
correct? If so, any improvement on this?
What happened if I set INITIAL_CAPACITY to a value bigger than 3?

Also, is there any size limitation on the xls file created by HSSFWorkbook?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,

Feng
