Thanks Koji, that's a good explanation for needing PIG_USER_CLASSPATH_FIRST.

Harsh, you can find reference to PIG_CLASSPATH here http://pig.apache.org/docs/r0.11.1/start.html#Running+the+Pig+Scripts+in+Mapreduce+Mode

I think you can add a note there (suggesting its optional) regarding PIG_USER_CLASSPATH_FIRST.
