Can you see where the -DAP_DEBUG comes from, e.g. by grepping
/usr/local/httpd-2.4.12/bin/ap* for AP_DEBUG?

I think that symbol is not supposed to find its way into the mod_perl
build options, but it's obviously getting picked up somewhere and
slipping through...
