some higher level drawing functions such as circle might land in PDFBox as part of the work
to enhance appearance generation for annotations and AcroForms. See https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PDFBOX-3353

https://github.com/dhorions/boxable is built on top of PDFBox offering table capabilities.
