Brian Carrier commented on PDFBOX-429:

Initial patch by Ken Glidden applied that returns the absolute value of the negative number.
We were not able to trace down the source of the bug, but this fix seems to give correct numbers.

Since we aren't sure if it is actually the correct fix, I will leave this open.
