The described issue is the normal behaviour of formatting in Calc.

Try the following with a new sheet:


1. Choose any cell and look what is the default font, say FONT01.
2. Write 2 Word into the cell: Word1 Word2.
3. Format Word1 with another font FONT02 and Word2 with FONT03.
4. Leave the edit mode of the cell and look which font is shown for the cell:
=> FONT01.
5. Change the font for the cell to FONT04.

You'll see that the hard formatting of Word1 and Word2 stays with FONT02 and
FONT03.

You can delete the hard formatting using Format → Default formatting.
