Looks like more than simple bulk insertion to me :)
The interesting way you have chosen should not make first-class managed
object be proxied. That is my remote observation. However, you can inspect
that actual runtime class after an instance has entered a persistence
context, to see for yourself.

A a = new A(); B b = new B();
a.setB(b);
em.persist(a); em.persist(b);
assertSame(B.class, a.getB().getClass());
