did you do some logging already?
I'd recommend going down the chain or suspects one step after the other.


First enable the sql logs (if you use log4j, then set category 'openjpa.jdbc.SQL' to DEBUG).

If that doesn't show any database activity then try enabling the 'openjpa' category logging.
