Hi Jeremy! I have a thought for the first Oracle issue. Have you considered a solution similar
to the one we use when handling non-streaming CLOBs with Oracle? I mean OracleDictionary.getClobString
method: we use isEmptyLob() from Oracle API and return null if the CLOB is actually empty.
Is this what you are referring to as a potential overkill?
