Hi,

May I suggest using a different suffix on patches added to JIRA  
issues? Using a suffix of .diff makes JIRA treat the file as binary.  
Using a suffix of .patch is handled ok, as is .txt.

Binary files are more difficult to view. I have to download them and  
then open them in an editor. With files with suffix .txt, I can  
directly open the files in Safari. With files with suffix .patch,  
Safari downloads and then opens them in TextEdit.
