Subject [jira] [Commented] (NIFI-7114) NiFi not closing file handles
Date Fri, 21 Feb 2020 16:16:00 GMT

Paul Kelly commented on NIFI-7114:

Correct, you shouldn't need to do anything, just sit back and watch it grow.

I just updated my flow again, this time with three PutDistributedMapCaches instead of the
one DetectDuplicates.  This one is growing faster for me.

I restarted NiFi, took lsof +E -P -p <pid of nifi not bootstrap>, and have it running.
I will grab another lsof +E -P -p <pid of nifi not bootstrap> and post both in about
an hour.  So far my FIFOs are up from starting at 17 to over 60 in under 5 minutes.

> Since at least version 1.10 NiFi stopped closing file handles. It opens circa 500 files
per hour (measured using lsof) without any apparent limit until it crashes due to too many
open files.
> Increasing the computer open file limit is not a solution since NiFi will still crash,
it'll only take longer to do so.
