Subject [jira] [Created] (NIFI-562) FileBasedClusterNodeFirewall should have an optional flag to fail on bad config input
Date Thu, 30 Apr 2015 03:54:05 GMT
Sean Busbey created NIFI-562:
--------------------------------

Summary: FileBasedClusterNodeFirewall should have an optional flag to fail on
bad config input
                 Key: NIFI-562
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NIFI-562
             Project: Apache NiFi
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Core Framework
    Affects Versions: 0.0.1
            Reporter: Sean Busbey
            Priority: Minor

We should have a config option to fail on bad config data for the firewall so that e.g. transient
DNS issues don't cause legit hosts to be ignored. Or worse, cause a set of hosts to be replaced
with "no entries, defaulting open."

Right now, the only indication would be a log message when the config file is parsed. In some
deployments, it will be preferable to fail loudly instead of making folks chase down an ignored
host.
