Subject Re: NullpointerException in getViewMap(UIViewRoot.java:689)

Hi,

You get some sort of infinitive loop. You have defined *.jsf as servlet
mapping for jsf, but also the index.jsf has the same extension. So trying
to load index.jsf, MyFaces loads the index.jsf file but that is captured by
the servlet again. See the very long stacktrace in your log and the
'looping' in it.

Solution:
1) Change the index.jsf file to index.xhtml
2) Add the following parameter to web.xml
    <context-param>
        <param-name>javax.faces.DEFAULT_SUFFIX</param-name>
        <param-value>.xhtml</param-value>
    </context-param>

And that should do it.

Other remarks:
You are using a faces-config for JSF 1.1. You should use the 2.0
declaration to have access to all features of JSF 2
<faces-config xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee"
              xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
              xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee
http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-facesconfig_2_0.xsd"
              version="2.0">

Also, you use the web-app 2.3 version and in fact it is a 2.5 one.

Regards
Rudy
