Maybe a little more clear:

index.jsf (empty)
index.jsp (code)

Or with facelets:
index.jsf (empty)
index.xhtml (code)

Of course if you use path mapping like "/faces/*" instead of extension
mapping (*.jsf) you don't need to do any of this.
