This is a really good patch overall.  Except that the javax.portlet.faces.BridgeRenderFilter class is dependent on com.sun.faces.application.ViewHandlerResponseWrapper which is in the R.I.'s IMPL package.  As a result this won't build with mvn because the bridge, quite correctly, only has the faces API package available during compile time.  This dependency would also break compatibility with MyFaces since myFaces has it's own impl.  I'm going to work on making our own ViewHandlerResponseWrapper class but if anyone has any other ideas, I'm open to suggestions.
