Figured this out.  I was hung up on the

"Could not resolve dependencies…"

however, the real issue was

"PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable
to find valid certification path to requested target"

There was a missing internal CA cert that was needed.  If you have SSL proxies or such in
your network, adding it to your truststore will solve the problem (e.g. $JAVA_HOME/lib/security/cacerts)

I believe all my pre-reqs are good (I've attached a text file showing the output of platform-info.sh
