Subject [jira] [Commented] (MESOS-2162) Consider a C++ implementation of CoreOS AppContainer spec
Date Tue, 24 Mar 2015 11:17:53 GMT

Akshay Dixit commented on MESOS-2162:

Hi, I'm Akshay[1][2] and I just came across this project, and I would love to work on it.
I know I'm pretty late ( ~3 days left for applying to GSoC) but I hope you'll consider helping
me put together a decent proposal. I'm currently reading the CoreOS AppSpec[3], and from what
I figure out, this project basically boils down to building a working port of Rocket[4] from
Go in C++ in the sense we have a new containerizer (like Docker[5]) that launches "App Containers"
as Tasks.
If so, I'd appreciate if you could point me to the next steps of how to go about building
a proposal. Should I get an understanding of how Rocket implements their App Container Runtime
and try to see how currently Docker containerizers are supported and try to go forward from

I understand it is highly improbable to come up with a good proposal in just three days. But
I would like to try.

for a container abstraction as an alternative to Docker. They have also released a reference
implementation, [rocket|].
> We should consider a C++ implementation of the specification to have parity with the
community and then use this implementation for our containerizer.
