In project.xml:

     <unitTest>
       <includes>
         <include>**/Test*.java</include>
       </includes>
       <resources>
         <resource>
           <directory>${basedir}/src/test/conf</directory>
           <includes>
             <include>*.properties</include>

             <!-- this is the line of interest -->
             <include>log4j.xml</include>

           </includes>
         </resource>
       </resources>
     </unitTest>
