 maven-doxia-plugin
 maven-site-plugin (are all 3 really needed?)
 maven-j2ee-plugin (Does this do war, ear and rar?)

Preferred:
 maven-checkstyle-plugin
 maven-eclipse-plugin
 maven-idea-plugin
 maven-jcoverage-plugin
 maven-scm-plugin

Anyone have other thoughts?

we'll be going with a smaller base set in m2 - possibly just those in maven-plugins. They'll need to be released, but not necessarily bundled.
