I do think there's a void that could be filled with a GVM install for Maven or creating a similar tool for Java/Maven, and I thought an "Improvement request" would be the way to do it. You can go ahead an close this issue. Or, if you request, I can create a new issue with a more general description of the problem. I think there should be something in the ecosystem that manages versions of JVM command line tools. I didn't realize how strongly GVM was intended to be "Groovy only". Let me know if you want me to open a new (more generally stated issue) otherwise it is OK with me if you close it. > Support installation of Maven via GVM (Groovy Versions Manager) > --------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: MNG-5749 > URL: https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-5749 > Project: Maven > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: Deployment > Affects Versions: 3.2.5 > Environment: Mac OS & *NIX > Reporter: Sean Gilligan > > Installing and managing Maven versions could be made much easier with GVM. GVM works great for managing Groovy, Grails, and Gradle versions. As far as I know there is no technical reason it couldn't install and manage Maven as well. > The GVM developers have no plans to add support for 'maven', but they may accept a contribution. In the meantime I'm using Homebrew on Mac OS X, but GVM would be much nicer. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.1.6#6162)
