Subject [jira] Closed: (SUREFIRE-477) Issue with redirectTestOutputToFile and unit test with System.out.print
Date Mon, 28 Apr 2008 23:33:46 GMT

Dan Fabulich closed SUREFIRE-477.

    Resolution: Cannot Reproduce

I can't reproduce this issue. I've attached a simple maven project that attempts to reproduce
the problem, copied from the "junit4" integration test checked into the Surefire source.
When I run "mvn clean test" I see the "Tests run ..." line and I get a junit4.BasicTest-output.txt
file containing the following text, which is basically what I expected:

Called setUp
1209425442882Called tearDown

> We have the Maven surefire plugin configured to redirect test output to file using the
redirectTestOutputToFile property.
> Consider the following unit test:
> import static org.junit.Assert.*;
> import org.junit.Test;
> public class PrintUnitTest {
> 	@Test
> 	public final void test1() {
> 		assertTrue(true);
> 		System.out.print(System.currentTimeMillis());
> 	}
> }
> The surefire plugin fails to print any more information to the console window after "Running
PrintUnitTest". Hence does not show the "Tests run ........." line.
> Furthermore, if other unit tests are run after this one, they run, but there output is
also not shown on the console window. If a build failure occurs in any of the unit tests the
Results, with mention of which tests failed are not printed.
