Presumably that means building straight from source for anything other than trunk (e.g. checkout
from an old tag) is not guaranteed to work 100% of the time?

I take your point about the Apache rule on downloadable artifacts. Out of interest, what is
the reasoning behind it? Is it simply for saving storage space?
