Subject Re: Scaling in MCF

Hi Karl,

The postgresql server in the test environment is a vritual machine with 4
logical cores. The underlying host, which has HT enabled, has enough
capacity to provide this number of virtual cores without contention with
other VMs.
The VM has 64GB RAM - again there's plenty more on the host for other VMs.
Data directory and transaction log directory are mounted on separate disks,
both of which are channelled through the host to dedicated physical disks.
No SSD and no RAID.
Manifold is the primary client application. A couple of other apps have
their (tiny) databases hosted on the same server.
It's worth noting that the VM has a couple of other services running on it
but it's still almost entirely dominated by postgresql.

Cheers,
Aeham
